Eight years after “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” closed, Universal is finally gearing up to build something new at the Lost Continent theater.
Eighth Voyage of Sindbad Theater Construction Walls
The theater is now fully blocked by construction walls decorated with some mystical symbols. These are themed to the Lost Continent, not a potential new attraction or land.
The walls block views of the theater while planters sit in front of the main entrance.
“The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” closed permanently in 2018 but the theater and sets stayed standing in full view of guests. The theater was even used as a U-Rest area and Cool Zone. Despite some construction walls going up around the theater in 2022, there have been no signs of construction until now.
The last remaining Lost Continent attraction is the talking Mystic Fountain outside the theater.
Last fall, Universal Orlando Resort confirmed upcoming “construction activity” in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments. Trees were cleared around the land.
Construction walls have gone up and down at the exit of Poseidon’s Fury, which closed permanently in early 2023. Water was drained from outside the defunct attraction.
The bridge connecting Lost Continent and Seuss Landing was refurbished over the past few months.
Lost Continent was partially demolished and taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010. Its former coasters, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, were turned into Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff, respectively. Dragon Challenge closed permanently in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
Universal has not announced any details about what new lands or attractions could replace Lost Continent. What do you hope to see? Let us know on social media.
