Jacksonville Police Department makes arrest for multiple burglaries
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WICS) – On Thursday, March 26, the Jacksonville Police Department received a report of a burglary that occurred in the 1300 block of W. Walnut St.
The Jacksonville Police Department subsequently received six more burglary reports through April 1, 2026 and believed them to be possibly committed by the same suspect. The burglaries were reported in the 200 block of S. Mauvaisterre St., 200 block of Sandy St., 500 block of N. Main St. and two in the 200 block of W. Morgan St.
The Jacksonville Police Department Detectives Division began investigating the burglaries and with the help of witnesses and video surveillance were able to ascertain a suspect.
On April 1, 2026 at approximately 7:05 p.m., Detectives located and placed Miles D. Pelehowski, 29, under arrest for the reported burglaries. After Speaking with Pelehowski it was learned he was also responsible for a burglary that occurred in the 300 block of W. State St. that was reported on January 13, 2026.
Pelehowski was taken to the Morgan County Jail where he was cited for seven counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage to property. Pelehowski remains in the custody at the Morgan County Jail where he awaits a pre-trial detention hearing.
