The 37-year-old driver said she was hindered by another car’s high beams and did not see Deputy Jason Anderson standing on the edge of the road.
SEMINOLE, Fla. — The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has released new details about a deputy who was hit by a car on Thursday night in Seminole.
Investigators said it happened around 9:45 p.m., when a 37-year-old woman was driving northbound on 104th Street in a 2010 Ford Fusion.
She told investigators that as she approached 106th Terrace, the high beams on a car in the southbound lane hindered her view of the 37-year-old Deputy Jason Anderson, who was standing on the edge of the road for an unrelated call.
The woman hit Deputy Anderson with the front passenger-side fender of her car, causing him to be thrown to the ground, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anderson was transported to the hospital, where he remains stable with two skull fractures, a fractured wrist and lacerations to his face.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Deputies said impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in this crash.
No charges have been filed against the driver as the investigation continues.
Deputy Anderson has been with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office since March 20, 2015.
