FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) —Four-way stops are causing confusion on the roads, and one viewer wants drivers to get back to basics.
Darlene Ann Godby showed up to WINK Listens FSW with concerns about chaotic intersections.
“I find myself at four-way stops and everybody’s driving willy nilly, and I’m going, it’s my turn, and the person that’s coming over and almost crashing into me,” Godby said. “So I don’t think people maybe they need to be re-educated. I don’t think they remember or know.”
Here’s a quick refresher on the four key rules.
First to stop, first to go. The first vehicle to come to a complete stop at the intersection has the right of way.
If two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the right goes first.
If two vehicles are facing each other and arrive at the same time, the vehicle going straight has the right of way over a vehicle turning left. A right-turning vehicle can also go before a left turn.
Pedestrians always have the right of way. If they’re in the crosswalk, you stop.
Godby hopes the reminder makes the roads safer for everyone.
