MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — Three women were arrested in Miami on Sunday after authorities said they refused to comply with airline staff and pay for extra carry-on baggage while boarding a flight.

On Sunday, around 9:50 p.m., the three women were boarding a Frontier Airlines flight departing from Miami International Airport and bound for Philadelphia.

Miami-Dade police identified the women as 30-year-old Nafisa Dockery, 21-year-old Dionjana Cochran, and 26-year-old Davana Cochran.

According to the arrest affidavits, while being checked onto the plane, a Frontier employee noticed that the women had only paid for one carry-on bag but had two with them.

The employee explained that the women would need to step out of line and pay for the additional bag.

The affidavit states that an argument ensued between the three women and the employee during which he told them they would not be allowed on the flight if they did not comply.

The employee warned them that law enforcement would be notified if they tried to board the plane, but Dockery told the others, “We don’t have to listen, let’s just go.”

The three women then rushed onto the aircraft by going through a door “clearly marked restricted area authorized personnel only,” the affidavit reports.

A Frontier manager canceled all three boarding passes and requested that the women be removed.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded and told the trio to leave the aircraft, but they refused.

“Deputies then requested the airline to deboard all passengers so the defendants could be taken into custody,” the report states. “As the other passengers exited the plane, the defendants also began to leave.”

The report said that as Dockery walked off the plane, she spat on another person.

Once off the aircraft, deputies instructed the women to place their hands behind their backs but, but once again, they refused.

A brief struggle ensued before all three were taken into custody.

The affidavit reports that due to the incident, the flight was delayed by more than an hour.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has charged all three women with resisting an officer without violence and trespassing on property after warning.

Additionally, Dockery was charged with battery.
