TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Residents will be able to go freshwater fishing without a license this weekend, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced.
The license-free fishing weekend will be April 4 through 5.
The license-free fishing weekend invited residents and visitors to explore the many recreational freshwater fishing opportunities that Florida has to offer, FWC said.
FWC is hosting two family fishing events this weekend at the following locations:
Tenoroc Fish Management Area
3829 Tenoroc Mine Road, Lakeland, FL 33805
April 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pre-registration is required and ends today at 5 p.m. Call FWC at 863-648-3200 to register for the event.
Bait and a limited number of loaner rods and reels are available for kids 15 and under.
Florida Bass Conservation Center
3583 County Road 788, Webster, FL 33597
April 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Attendees are asked to bring fishing gear and bait.
To find a boat ramp, pier, or fishing spot, visit the FWC website.
“Whether you like to fish from the shore or your boat, there is a place to go fishing for everyone,” FWC said.
