JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friday was Cancer Awareness Night (White Out) for the Jacksonville Icemen, who faced the Florida Everblades for the second of a three-game series in Jacksonville. Florida took a dominant 5-1 victory over Jacksonville, for the team’s 1200th franchise win.
After a scoreless first period and half of the second period, Florida capitalized on the man-advantage, leading to a shift of momentum and three goals within less than three minutes of each other. Anthony Romano scored the first power play goal at the 13:33 mark, followed by a second power play goal 33 seconds later by Oliver Chau. Just over two minutes later at the 16:18 mark, Sam Stange scored an even-strength goal to give Florida a 3-0 lead.
In the third period, Taos Jordan would break a shutout bid for Kyle McClellan in net for Florida, with a goal through traffic to make it 3-1. Cole Moberg gave Florida their three-goal advantage back, scoring at the 8:33 mark of the period. Sam Stange scored his second of the night on the power play at 13:06 to make it 5-1, sending some fans to the exits early. The two teams will match up for the third game Saturday.
