Kirk Cousins Kirk Cousins

The Atlanta Falcons, in Week 8, had to turn to Kirk Cousins under center as Michael Penix Jr was out with a bone bruise in his knee. For Kirk Cousins, this was his time to shine after being benched down the stretch of last season and prove he could still be a quality starting quarterback in the NFL.

While it didn’t lead to a win, in his first return to action after having not played in almost a year he completed 21-of-31 passes for 173 yards. For Kirk Cousins, he was able to show that he can still lead an offense in the right situation, and there is one team in particular that should be looking to land quarterback help at the NFL Trade Deadline, and that team is the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Atlanta Falcons Trade Kirk Cousins to the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars ended up starting off the 2025 season strong, but have since gone on to lose back-to-back games, with the latest being a blowout 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

It is clear that the Jaguars have flaws, and one of those flaws revolves around the quarterback position as Trevor Lawrence still is struggling with the minor things that he should not be in year five.

For Liam Coen, it is his first year as the Jaguars head coach, and with having no tied to to Lawrence, if he feels as though Lawrence is not the right fit for his offense, then he will have a quick trigger to move on. To make sure the season isn’t jeopardized by Lawrence’s sporadic play, Coen could look for his replacement at the NFL Trade Deadline.

If this happens to be the case, Kirk Cousins makes sense. Trading for Cousins would give them an ideal bridge quarterback that would be able to help them contend this season, while also providing them sustainable play until they can find their franchise quarterback of the future.
