Five ducklings are safe after deputies and community members teamed up for a rescue operation at a storm drain at Waterford Lakes Town Center on Saturday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.While on another call, deputies were flagged down for a report of the ducklings trapped in the drain.Deputies Kortney Daniel, Justin Arroyo and Leonel Vaillant, along with Master Deputy Jacob Snavely, a USRT recovery diver, and his two sons, Josiah and Gabriel, responded to the scene.Working with Orange County Public Works, the group secured the necessary equipment and lifted the manhole cover.Snavely then entered the drain to carefully bring all five ducklings to safety.“We’re proud to see our community come together like this, especially on a holiday weekend,” the deputies said in a statement. “Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter!”Snavely is temporarily caring for the ducklings until they are old enough to be released.
