The Tampa Bay Rays have joined other Major League Baseball teams bringing no-delay digital radio broadcasts of games to fans, enhancing the in-park experience.

ProWire has partnered with the Rays to deliver live radio broadcasts in English and Spanish, plus PA announcements and real-time closed captioning, on fans’ personal devices while at the team’s home park, Tropicana Field, via the MLB Ballpark app. The feature is available to fans at no cost.

Audio broadcasts of Rays games emanate from iHeartMedia sports station WDAE-AM-FM (620/95.7) in English, and Crisbeto Enterprises’ “Super Q” WQBN (1300 AM and 106.7 FM via translator W294CR) in Spanish. “With English and Spanish broadcasts, PA audio and closed captioning, we’re giving Rays fans a best-in-class listening experience right from their own devices,” ProWire co-founder and CEO Gordon Sumner says.

Other MLB teams which have added the ultra-low latency streaming technology include the New York Mets, as part of a partnership with Audacy and SportsBug, as well as the Washington Nationals and Kansas City Royals via ProWire, which has also partnered with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. The technology is already being used by Learfield for college sports in-stadium radio play-by-play broadcasts.
