PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Golden Corral is known for all-you-can-eat comfort food, but at its Port St. Lucie location this week, the biggest takeaway was a burglary investigation after police found a smashed window, a damaged door and a hole in the roof.

Port St. Lucie Police are investigating a burglary at Golden Corral after officers found multiple signs of forced entry, according to a police media release.

Police said officers were dispatched to the restaurant at 651 NW St. Lucie West Blvd. at about 4:38 a.m. Sunday after management received an alarm notification reporting a possible burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they conducted an exterior sweep and found a broken window and evidence someone had tried to force open a door.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department then called in the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit to help search the interior of the building. Officers later determined there were no suspects inside.

Investigators also found additional damage on the roof, including what police described as a large hole about one foot wide. The Fort Pierce Police Department’s drone unit assisted in searching the roof and attic space as the investigation continued.

Inside the restaurant, officers found extensive damage in the manager’s office and throughout the ceiling, police said. Investigators said several electrical cords tied to the alarm and camera systems had been cut, the peephole from an exterior door had been removed, and multiple alarm keypads had been ripped from the walls.
