Cape Coral, FL – Koltin Burns (DOB 03/16/2006) is facing multiple charges in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries spanning several months in Northeast Cape Coral.

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a burglary in progress in the 300-block of NE 18th Avenue.

The caller reported receiving a notification from his surveillance cameras and observed a male wearing a blue hoodie and light gray sweatpants attempting to open the doors of three vehicles parked at his residence. All vehicles were locked, and no entry was made. The suspect was then seen crossing the street, entering an unlocked vehicle, rummaging through it, and leaving the area.

The caller exited his home and observed the suspect going through another vehicle and placing items under his hoodie. When confronted, the suspect fled on foot.

A K9 unit and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were deployed. The UAV operator observed a male matching the suspect’s description enter the backyard of 417 NE 17th Place and go inside through a rear door. The home is located across the canal from the initial incident.

Officers made contact at the residence with Koltin Burns, who was wearing only boxer shorts, had wet hair, and matched the physical description of the suspect. A wet kayak with a fresh footprint was also located on the property.

Through the investigation, Property Crimes Detectives linked Burns to multiple vehicle burglaries in the NE 18th Avenue area. Reported stolen items included a wallet, credit cards, and a designer purse. Burns was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail on multiple burglary and theft charges.

On March 22, 2026, at approximately 7:43 p.m., officers responded to another report of a vehicle burglary on NE 18th Avenue.

The victim reported that two wallets, cash, and credit cards were stolen from his vehicle. He also located a pink floral makeup bag belonging to his neighbor, which contained some of his stolen items as well as property belonging to the neighbor. This makeup bag had been reported stolen in a burglary already connected to Burns. Additional items inside the bag were linked to another victim, further expanding the scope of the investigation.

On April 1, 2026, detectives with the Property Crimes Unit responded to the Lee County Jail to interview Burns regarding the additional reported burglary.

During the investigation, detectives were able to link Burns to the March 22 incident, as well as multiple additional vehicle burglaries, including incidents that occurred on February 14, 2026.

On February 14, officers responded to 417 NE 17th Avenue (Burns’ address) after a victim reported her vehicle had been burglarized overnight, her Apple AirPods were stolen, and they were pinging to this address. Other stolen items included her purse containing approximately $2,000 in cash, a military ID, work badge, six credit cards, a passport, and other personal documents.

At the time, officers made contact with Burns, who did say he had been walking in the neighborhood around midnight wearing a gray hoodie and sweatpants. Surveillance footage from the area showed a person matching that description attempting to open vehicle doors and carrying what appeared to be a purse.

After speaking to Burns at the jail on April 1, detectives located several items of stolen property concealed in bushes and along the canal bank near Burns’ residence. Most of the property had water damage from being submerged in canal water. Through this discovery, Detectives were able to link Burns to several other vehicle burglaries in the area.
