1. No place like home: The Tampa Bay Rays return to Tropicana Field. Here’s what’s new
When Rays’ fans settle into their seats at Tropicana Field on Monday for the team’s home opener, it will have been more than 560 days since the team and its faithful were together in their comfy confines.
2. Artemis II breaks record for being furthest humans from Earth
It has been more than 50 years since humans were the furthest from Earth, but the Artemis II crew broke the record for distance on Monday afternoon as they are doing a flyby mission of the moon.
3. Election Day set for Plant City, Polk County; View candidate and voting info
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. We’ll have results on-air, online and the Spectrum News app.
4. Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital pushes for booster seat use through age 8
In 2026, two bills went before the Florida Legislature to change the required age for kids to be in a booster seat from the age of 5 to 8 years old. Neither bill passed, but Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital said it will push for the same law next session
5. Iran rejects latest ceasefire proposal as Trump deadline approaches
Iran on Monday rejected a 45-day ceasefire proposal and said it wants a permanent end to the war, even as Israel attacked a major gas field and U.S. President Donald Trump’s Tuesday ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz loomed.

GAS PRICES LATEST |Â Florida gas prices are now above $4 per gallon for the first time in four years. The state average surged 28 cents last week, reaching a high of $4.23 per gallon, before declining 3 cents through the weekend. The most expensive metro markets are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.35), Gainesville ($4.28), Naples ($4.27). The least expensive are Pensacola ($3.91), Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.91), Panama City ($3.92). To find the cheapest gas prices in the Bay area, click here.
BOLTS HIT THE ROAD | The Tampa Bay Lightning tonight begin a four-game road trip. First up is a matchup with the Buffalo Sabres, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. Tomorrow night, the Bolts visit the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m. That is followed by games Thursday night at the Montreal Canadiens and Saturday afternoon at the Boston Bruins.
TAMPA TRAFFIC |Â The outside southbound lane of Bayshore Boulevard, including the bike lane, is closed between South Orleans Avenue and South Oregon Avenue while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. Barricades and signs are located in the area to assist with traffic flow. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by 4:30 p.m. Friday.
