MIAMI, Fla. – Governor Greg Abbott will join Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in Miami today to highlight the enormous economic growth happening across both states, emphasizing Texas’ record-setting job gains and business-friendly environment.

Abbott is celebrating the strength and resilience of the Texas economy as the state added 40,100 nonfarm jobs in January, reaching a historic total of 14,379,500 jobs.

Labor market data from the Texas Workforce Commission shows:

Texas added 40,100 nonfarm jobs in January, hitting a record 14,379,500 total jobs.The Texas labor force totaled 15,955,200, with 15,267,100 working, including self-employed.From January 2025 to January 2026, Texas gained 112,200 jobs, outpacing national annual job growth.

Last week, Abbott participated in a fireside chat at the Forward Fort Worth mobility innovation summit, where he touted Texas’ pro-business mindset that attracts corporate relocations and expansions.

“Almost any industry that you can think of, Texas is already leading in,” Abbott said. “And more importantly, we are attracting even more of those businesses to the state. If you are not in Texas, this is the safest place to build your business and to raise a family. If you are not here yet, get here quickly.”

The governor emphasized that Texas’ combination of economic opportunity, skilled workforce, and investment in infrastructure positions the state for continued growth in the coming years.
