An Indian Shores man and son of the late U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young was arrested on charges he solicited a 15-year-old girl for sexual conduct, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Patrick Rainey Young, 38, faces one count of soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct using a computer or device, one count of harmful communication to a minor and two counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives said Young met the girl while working the scoreboard at his son’s baseball game at Seminole High School. He made sexual comments about the victim and provided her with alcohol and nicotine, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The two continued contact at other games and through Instagram, where detectives said Young discussed sexual favors and nude photos in exchange for money. Investigators confirmed Young paid the girl $300 after receiving a nude photo and on other occasions gave her food in exchange for photos, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began Jan. 8 after detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit received a report of inappropriate conduct.

Young was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
