The Florida Elections Canvassing Commission certified the results of the March 24 special elections for two state House seats and a Senate contest on Tuesday.

The commission, made up of Gov. Ron DeSantis, Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia, certified the results in a conference call.

Democrat Brian Nathan, a U.S. Navy veteran from Tampa defeated former state Rep. Josie Tomkow, R-Polk City, for the Senate District 14 contest in Hillsborough County. Republican Hilary Holley won Tomkow’s former District 51 seat. And Jupiter Democrat Emily Gregory won House District 87 in Palm Beach County.

All three seats are up for election in November.

Nathan and Tomkow have both opened campaign accounts for the November contest, as have Gregory and Jon Maples, the Republican candidate for District 87 on March 24.

Jonathan Rubin, a Republican from Jensen Beach, has also filed for the District 87 contest.

Octavio Hernandez, a Democrat from Davenport, is the only announced candidate for District 51 who has opened a campaign account.

Official qualifying for legislative seats runs from noon June 8 to noon June 12.
