The NCHSAA East Regional boys and girls cross country championships were held Friday and Saturday. Here is a look at the area runners who placed in the top 10 in their races.Â
2-A East Regionals
BOYS
Matthew Barbabella, Lejeune: The senior was third in 17:23 at Red Oak Course in Rocky Mount on Saturday.
Jude Keller, Lejeune: The senior was second in 16:38 to help the Devilpups win the team title with 45 points, 25 ahead of runner-up Pamlico.
Noah Keller, Lejeune: The junior was 10th in 18:29.Â
GIRLS
Olivia Briick, Lejeune: The freshman was sixth in 23:07 at Red Oak Course in Rocky Mount on Saturday.
Madison Perry, Lejeune: The sophomore was third in 22:39 to help the Devilpups place first as a team with 37 points, five ahead of runner-up Camden County.
Olivia Tweedy, Lejeune: The freshman was seventh in 23:14.
Xyanna Valentin, Lejeune: The senior was 10th in 23:44.Â
5-A East Regionals
BOYS
Atticus Brinson, Croatan: The junior was second in 16:37.13 to help the Cougars win the team title with 38 points, one ahead of West Carteret, at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary on Saturday.
Zach Guerrero, Croatan: The sophomore was third in 16;39.06.
Judah Spellman, Croatan: The sophomore was eighth in 17:27.32.Â
GIRLS
Reagan Clifton, Croatan: The sophomore came in first place in 18:15.45 to help the Cougars place second as a team with 80 points, only behind West Carteret’s 64, at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary on Saturday.
Maisy Stephens, Croatan: The junior was fourth in 20:39.82.
Addy Clark, Dixon: The sophomore was 10th in 21:18.06.Â
6-A East Regionals
BOYS
Michael Justice, Swansboro: The junior was third in 17:13 to help the Pirates win first place as a team with 57 points, six ahead of West Johnston at Red Oak Course in Rocky Mount on Friday.
Jasiah Mason, Swansboro: The junior was fifth in 17:40.
Cole Weimer, Swansboro: The senior was 10th in 17:51.Â
GIRLS
Emma Sanders, Swansboro: The junior was fifth in 20:30 to help the Pirates place second as a team with 78 points, behind only Middle Creek’s 42 at Red oak Course in Rocky Mount on Friday.
Isabel Maxwell, White Oak: The freshman was sixth in 20:53 to help the Vikings place third with 119 points.Â
NOTE: There were no local 4-A runners in the top 10.
