TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – April is National Donate Life Month and more than 6,000 Floridians are waiting for a lifesaving donation right now.
On Tuesday, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare held a ceremony to raise awareness. TMH honored those who have donated and is trying to inspire registration.
During the ceremony, several speakers shared the impacts of the generous act, honoring those who gave their lives to save someone else’s.
Among the speakers was local PR executive Ron Sachs, whose daughter Aimee saved three lives through organ donation when she died in 2023 following a massive stroke.

Sachs said seeing the real-life impact of his daughter’s decision has helped him get through her passing.
“It was the decision of the woman, a young mom of two boys and a husband who works for the space industry; it was her choice to want to know us. She calls me Pops now, and Aimee’s liver has kept her alive for almost three years,” Sachs said. ” I consider her an honorary or adopted daughter, my two other daughters consider her a sister, and knowing that her life has been saved by Aimee’s gift is the biggest part of our healing and missing our girl.”
Sachs said his daughter’s final decision stayed true to her values, and he hopes that by telling her story, he can inspire others to register as well.
“These are vehicles that we’re occupying this time around in this wonderful life, but it’s not all there is,” he said. “There’s something beyond this, and when it’s your time to go to whatever’s next, wouldn’t it be great to leave a legacy of love and life as part of your life legacy?
