An outdated explosive put a Southwest Florida law enforcement agency on watch, but they ultimately. and carefully, cleared the scene.
Cape Coral Police about noon April 7 announced that the police department’s lobby, records window and parking lot closed, as well as the area of Cultural Parkway Boulevard and Southeast 11th Street as authorities probed an old grenade.
According to police, “an individual attempted to turn in what appeared to be an old grenade they had found for disposal.”

Police, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s Bomb Squad, confirmed it was an inert grenade.
