TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa man has been arrested in connection with an apartment complex shooting that happened last month, deputies say.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened on March 23, 2026, after a dispute involving children became heated.

Detectives said the incident began when a child said a group of children playing outside was bullying her. She was not included in that group, the release stated.
Adults gathered outside to address the problem, but things escalated when they began arguing.
Detectives said one of the adults, Khiry Cole, 35, of Tampa, approached someone and got into a fight with them. He then pulled out a gun and chased the individual, firing two shots as they fled.
Video provided by the sheriff’s office showed people screaming at Cole as he chased the victim and fired the gunshots. At the end, a woman chastised Cole, saying “Really?!”
No one was injured in the situation.

Discharge Firearm in Public or on Residential Property
“This situation escalated quickly and recklessly, putting lives at risk, including children,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Pulling a gun and firing at someone over a dispute is unacceptable. We will continue to hold those who resort to violence fully accountable.”
