A proposed measure in Manatee County requiring nonprofits to verify clients’ immigration status was withdrawn yesterday after the measure received strong opposition from nearly a dozen residents and nonprofit leaders at the county commission meeting.

The group is now threatening to sue, claiming this to be a minor error that shouldn’t disregard so many signatures.
