Their sign says “Home of the Best Cuban,” and the 500+ five-star reviews on Google say, in their own words, the claim is justified. Barracuda Deli Cafe recently reopened at a new location in Largo, welcoming longtime fans and new neighbors alike to decide for themselves. The Cuban-Caribbean-Mexican restaurant is now open at 11934 Seminole Blvd.
Technically, Barracuda has a 4.9-star rating out of 530 reviews, but in this age of everyone being a critic, we’re happy to round up. In fact, you have to scroll back nearly a full year to even find the last review that was less than five stars. That reviewer twice described the experience as perfect, used the word yummy in a public forum, described the Cuban sandwich as mean (complimentary), and said there was no wait. That review got four stars. What’s a deli gotta do for that fifth star?
Review critiquing aside, the big news here is that Barracuda is back open. It’s been a locals-only, if-you-know-you-know favorite for years at Oxford Square Shopping Center. After a few months away, it’s now open in a new location just up the road. The family-run spot has a lengthy list of hot, pressed sandwiches, fresh salads and wraps, all complemented by a Mexican-Caribbean fusion portion of the menu with tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, nachos, mojo pork and mojo chicken.

If it’s your first time, however, it’s the pressed Cuban sandwich you want. It’s prepared in close to the traditional way, with roasted pork, ham, salami, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and mayo. In the region where the Cuban was invented, and a place home to stars like West Tampa Sandwich Shop, Columbia Restaurant, Bodega, and La Segunda, claiming your Cuban sandwich is the best takes some confidence.
Us? We’re happy to enjoy them all equally yet differently. It’s all about mood, preference, and what’s closest to you when hunger hits. But Barracuda has hundreds on its side saying the moniker is accurate.
“The BEST Cuban sandwich I’ve had in 30 years of living in the area,” one five-star reviewer said after visiting the new location. “Order it double pressed and it’s amazing every single time. Their mojo pork is also amazing. Owned and operated by the nicest family!”
Barracuda Deli Cafe is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 am – 7 pm.
