Coco Montoya
SAFETY HARBOR — Award-winning, internationally renowned blues-rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Coco Montoya will perform on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m., at the Safety Harbor Art & Music Center, 706 Second St. N., Safety Harbor.
Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Visit www.safetyharborartandmusiccenter.com.
Mentored by the “Master of the Telecaster,” Albert Collins, and schooled by a decade on the road with John Mayall, Montoya has a hard-edged sound and style all his own. Since his debut album in 1995 — which won him the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist — Montoya’s endlessly inventive guitar work and passionate, hard-hitting vocals have kept him at the top of the blues world.
With his 2023 Alligator Records album, “Writing on the Wall,” Montoya delivers what he is already calling one of the best records he’s ever made. For the very first time on Alligator, he decided to bring his road-tested band — noted keyboardist and songwriter Jeff Paris (Keb’ Mo’, Bill Withers), bassist Nathan Brown, and drummer Rena Beavers — into the studio with him. Between the camaraderie of the long-time bandmates and the sheer talent of all involved, the results have left Coco, in his words, “over the moon.”

I hope this could be that song for someone out there.”

Mighty Mystic is considered as one of the leaders in the U.S. Reggae scene and labeled by many as one of the more prolific artists to develop outside of Jamaica. He has gripped the scene with ferocious conviction and an uncanny ambition worthy to be mentioned among the greats. He has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a contributor to the art.
Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song “Riding on the Clouds.” However, it wasn’t until the release of his first album “Wake up the World” (2010) that he became a household name. “Wake up the World” boasted several standouts, such as “Revolution,” “Riding on the Clouds,” “Original Love,” and “Slipped Away,” with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah. Mystic continues to wake up the world with his high energy, message-driven brand of reggae music which he emphatically calls “hard roots.” It is this unique spin on classic reggae blended with hip hop and rock that has catapulted him to the forefront of today’s Reggae Revival. Mighty Mystic is also the younger brother of current Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. When asked, does being the brother of Prime Minister Holness have any impact on your music? Mystic simply says, “Andrew has a job to do and so do I, impact or not we both have our own mission to complete.”
Ruth Eckerd Hall
Yes
CLEARWATER — Influential and pioneering Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Yes are on the road for “The Fragile Tour 2025,” which will include a concert on Saturday, Oct. 18, 8 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater.
Tickets start at $53.25. Call 727-791-7400 or visit www.rutheckerdhall.com.
Yes currently features members Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums). For this series of shows, the progressive rock titans will perform their iconic “Fragile” album in its entirety along with classics cuts from their legendary body of work. The multi-platinum album features their signature songs “Roundabout,” “Long Distance Runaround” and “Heart of the Sunrise.” “Fragile,” the band’s fourth studio album, was released in the UK in November 1971 and in the U.S. in January 1972. The original tour supporting “Fragile” is regarded as a key moment is the history of the band: It is when Yes became a headline act in the United States.
“All the band’s albums had a unique feel and approach,” said Howe in a press release announcing the tour. “After ‘The Yes Album,’ so many things came together, with [co-producer] Eddie Offord steering the proceedings. While the band focused on only four main songs with full arrangements, each of us wrote and designed a solo piece, which was Bill [Bruford]’s great idea. It’s fairly ‘odd-ball,’ but we were at the height of our creativity, determined for success.” Howe adds: “It gave us confidence, further than our own in-stock belief, we’d crafted this unusual but noticeable musical twist to rock and what later became prog.”
“Fragile” also marks the band’s first album to be designed by artist Roger Dean. He would also design many of the band’s future album covers, the band’s logo, and live stage sets. This striking union of music and design is key in how the band’s sound and vision would be perceived; it also underlined how important artistic visuals were becoming in the rock world. On “The Fragile Tour 2025,” Yes will perform in front of a video wall featuring AI treatment of Dean’s art. Dean art will be available in the merch area at all the shows.
“Roger was and is quintessential to the look of Yes,” said Howe. “He’s still creating great paintings and design — he has no competition.”

With “The All Night Long Tour,” Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen deliver a one-of-a-kind concert experience — no opener, just two electrifying sets separated by an intermission. The result is an extended immersive evening that captures the heart of Bingham’s signature sound and storytelling.
