Macon-Bibb County said that Contour Airlines will be adding a new route to Fort Lauderdale, and bringing back nonstop flights to Baltimore.

MACON, Ga. — Contour Airlines announced on Thursday that they’ll be adding new flights from the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon.

In a media release, Macon-Bibb County said that the airline will be adding a new route to Fort Lauderdale, and bringing back nonstop flights to Baltimore.

They said that starting June 9, these flights will be available.

The new, nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale will fly into the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Macon-Bibb County said in the release.

They said this route comes as a “direct response” to the community’s demand for access to Florida’s beaches and cruise ports.

They said that flights to Fort Lauderdale will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These flights will leave Macon at 9:40 a.m. and get to Fort Lauderdale at 11:25 a.m.

The return flights from Fort Lauderdale are at noon on those same days, according to the release.

The flights to Baltimore will be from the Middle Georgia Regional Airport to the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. 

County spokesperson Chris Floore confirms that the Baltimore route will be replacing the route to Washington Dulles. 

The county said that the return of the flight will reconnect Macon travelers with a “popular and convenient gateway” to the Mid-Atlantic.

“Contour previously operated service to Baltimore and is thrilled to bring this route back in response to strong local interest,” the county said in the release.

Flights to Baltimore will be every day, with a second flight on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The daily flights will depart Macon at 2:35 p.m. and arrive in Baltimore at 4:30 p.m., and the extra flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will leave Macon at 7:15 a.m. and get to Baltimore at 9:10 a.m.

Additionally, the return flights from Baltimore will be at 5:05 p.m., daily, and at 9:45 a.m. for the extra three flights per week.

The press release does not say how much the flights will cost. 

They also said that Contour Airlines will use their 30-seat regional jet for these flights.
