Thomas Stein, one of the teens accused of killing a Cape Coral girl, returned to a Lee County courtroom Thursday afternoon. This was a quick hearing to make sure both sides are on track for this month’s murder trial. Investigators say in 2024, he and Christopher Horne Jr. shot and killed 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller while she was walking with her friends.In court Thursday, the prosecutor told the judge that she will not call Christopher Horne Sr. as a state witness. Attorneys said Christopher Horne Sr. refused to answer questions posed to him. His son, Christopher Horne Jr., already took a plea deal and is set to testify in this case. Now, the attorneys say they are still on track for the trial that starts on April 27, where they will start with jury selection.
