TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Construction crews in Tallahassee are set to begin the final phase of the city’s $3.3 million Seventh Avenue Water Main Replacement Project, weather permitting.
Rain delayed work early Monday, but city officials said crews are prepared to start as soon as conditions improve. If the weather doesn’t clear, work will begin Tuesday.
The first task will be to lower a manhole cover, according to a City of Tallahassee spokesperson.

During this phase, crews will mill and pave Seventh Avenue between Centerville Road and Duval Street. Work will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with at least one lane open to traffic at all times.
The project, which began in 2023, includes upgraded water lines, new fire hydrants, and restored underground utilities. The city’s website stated the improvements will strengthen infrastructure, enhance water service reliability, and create a smoother, safer drive through the corridor.
Work is expected to wrap up in early 2026.
