Nawal Akar
OBITUARY
Nawal Akar, born February 8, 1937, passed peacefully on April 8, 2026, on her own terms, a reflection of the strength and independence that defined her life.
A lifelong learner, Nawal refused to let circumstances limit her growth. As a married woman, she returned to school to complete her high school education and later earned her associate’s degree in early childhood education. She devoted ten years to teaching preschool, shaping young minds with patience and care. Later, she brought that same determination and sharp business sense to real estate, where she became a top seller in New Brunswick, helping many families achieve the dream of homeownership.
Nawal was deeply creative and expressive. She painted, wrote poetry, and found joy in music, especially classical compositions and the symphony. A gifted soprano, her voice left a lasting impression on all who heard it. She was also a natural storyteller, someone who could hold a room with her words and presence.
As a mother, she was unwavering, headstrong, resilient, and fully engaged. She taught her children to face life directly and without fear. She was a fierce advocate for education and for the people she encountered, never hesitating to offer guidance, whether it was asked for or not.
Nawal is survived by her two daughters, their husbands, and her two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son at the age of 57 and by two beloved nephews at the ages of 46 and 65.
She leaves behind a legacy of strength, determination, and a refusal to settle for less than life has to offer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from 5pm-7:30pm, with a funeral service on Thursday, April 16, at 10:00am, at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Hwy, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308.
