Nearly seven years after a man was gunned down in a northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood, a suspect who authorities believe is responsible for his killing has been arrested, records showed.

Marshaun Altarol West, 36, was arrested Thursday on charges of second-degree murder with a weapon and possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, an arrest report said.

According to the report, the shooting happened on Oct. 27, 2019, in the area of Northwest 76th Street and Northwest 17th Avenue in Gladeview.

The victim, who isn’t named in the report, was riding his bicycle when he stopped within a group of people congregating in the roadway.

West and the victim then got into a verbal dispute, and West obtained a gun and shot the victim several times before fleeing, the report said.

The victim later died from his injuries.

Eyewitness interviews helped detectives identify West as the shooter, along with video surveillance footage that captured the incident, the report said.

At the time, West was a convicted felon, the report said. Florida Department of Corrections records showed he served 18 months in prison in a 2012 aggravated assault case out of Miami-Dade.

West was booked into jail and appeared before a judge on Friday, who ordered him held without bond.
