Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Fork). They never let the Port St. Lucie Jaguars get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Friday. The Bulldogs haven’t had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Miguel Ferry looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. South Fork is 5-2 when Ferry allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, South Fork got a big performance out of Luke Wonders, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Wonders a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Vining, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
South Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port St. Lucie struck out ten times.
South Fork’s victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Port St. Lucie, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost ten of their last 11 contests. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
