Miami’s got plenty of eclectic speakeasies, some tucked behind a Mexican dulceria or disguised behind a vintage cigarette machine. But this underground hideaway in Hialeah — yes, you read that right — takes you below the city streets and back in time to the glamour of the Prohibition era.
Start by finding the black door with a “9” on it, which can be accessed through the side entrance of Bellas Cabaret gentleman’s club. After ringing the doorbell, you’re led down a red-carpeted staircase before being greeted by the sounds of jazz or electric beats to kick back and enjoy an endless list of delicious cocktails.
Aptly named 9 Feet Under, the moody lounge is reminiscent of the era that speakeasies absolutely thrived in, complete with plush seating, Art Deco touches and sophisticated designs. Think Gatsby meets the 305!
On the menu, expect standouts such as their guava and sugar cane-filled Havana Sunset or the reinvented espresso martini known as the Black Gold. There’s also the citrusy Snow Bird cocktail as well as the smoky Frank Lucas Old Fashioned. And make sure to pair your drinks with bites like croquetas, mini empanadas, yuca fries or chicken wings.
Depending on the night, 9 Feet Under offers a mix of themed entertainment that brings a different energy each and every time. There’s karaoke on Thursdays, live jazz on Fridays and tropical Sundays with upbeat DJ sets.
Find 9 Feet Under at the side entrance of Bellas Cabaret, at 885 SE 14th St, Hialeah, FL 33010. But blink, and you might miss it!
