David Nicholas McLaren Jr., age 18 of Green Cove Springs, passed away October 22, 2025, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on August 1, 2007, in Westminster, Maryland to David and Jessica (Bass) McLaren.
David graduated from Clay High School in 2024 where he was active in the ROTC. He dedicated his youthful enthusiasm to his role as a Canine Attendant at Happy Dog Day Care, where his love for animals was evident to all who knew him. He carried a big heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and sharing his endless positivity.
An active member of River Christian Church, David embraced his faith and was deeply rooted in his community. He found joy in the company of his family, especially his cousins, whom he adored. Passionate about sports, he was a devoted Ravens football fan, and his love for fitness was shown through his involvement in swimming, running, and weightlifting. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his contagious smile and the kindness he showed to those around him.
David is survived by his loving parents David and Jessica McLaren; and his younger brother, Joseph McLaren; maternal grandparents Terry “Mommom” and David “Pop” Bass, paternal grandparents, Kay “Meme” and Tom “Poppy” Harmon, Brian “Grandpa” and Joselle “Lola” McLaren, along with his great grandfather James E. McCreary. Also left behind to cherish his memory are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends that will dearly miss David. He will be remembered for his vibrant energy, his camaraderie with friends, and the countless memories shared with family.
A memorial service will be held to honor David’s life providing family and friends an opportunity to celebrate the incredible young man he was at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in River Christian Church. The family would love you to write something if you feel like you have something to share with David, their family, or with everyone who comes to the celebration. You can share it publicly, or privately, whatever helps you, and Dave and glorifies the Lord of lords. Please let the church know if you would like to share publicly so they can plan accordingly.
