PORT ST. LUCIE – Drivers won’t have to wait much longer for the opportunity to experience driving on a professional racetrack in St. Lucie County. A spokesperson for the P1 Motor Club told guests at a recent Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County luncheon that the first track is anticipated to be open and ready to drive on in the next 60 days.

Founding Partner Al Guibord shared the exciting update about the project. “Not only is this a unique feature for this county, but this is also the largest motorsports project that has ever been approved in the entire state.”

P1 Motor Club is a motorsports community currently under development in western St. Lucie County. When completed, the community will include 4.5 miles of racetrack, a clubhouse, sport courts, and a 400,000 square-foot commerce park specifically built and engineered for the motorsports industry. It will feature 125 single family homes, and approximately one million square feet of garage condos.

Guibord said the main membership base in Florida is from Orlando to Miami, and then a large group of people from the New England area, mid-Atlantic and Midwest areas. The Club already has 250 members signed up. One does not have to own a home at the Club to be a member.

Guibord also touted one of the more distinct features of this particular sports club. “The P1 circuit is going to be one of the most premier racetracks in the world. It’s actually going to have some unique features that are very distinct. The most prominent feature we’re going to have is this will be only one of three racetracks in the world that actually has a bridge on the track. So as you’re going in one direction, there will be cars going underneath the bridge in an opposite direction, sort of an engineering feat to be done, but we were able to figure it out.”

The project is a total of 650 acres. When fully operational, which will take anywhere from 3-5 years, the project will employ approximately 150 personnel throughout the club.

Guibord shared that the organization has an agreement with Mercedes-Benz. “Mercedes has a performance division within the company called AMG, and they did a large partnership with us where we’re going to be their North American partner for all of their product launches and testing of all their new cars that they’re going to have in the U.S. market.”

The P1 Motor Club is located approximately three miles west of the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds at 24101 Okeechobee Road, Port St. Lucie. Contact them at (772) 510-4805. Visit their website at www.p1motorclub.com.
