Smoke from a wildfire at Florida’s Picayune Strand State Forest partially blocked out the sun on Monday, April 13,
On Monday evening, the Florida Forestry Service reported the blaze had rapidly grown to 1,500 acres and was 15 percent contained.
Firefighters would continue to battle the inferno overnight, the service added.
Some streets near the fire were evacuated, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.
