13-Year-Old arrested after fleeing police on electric dirt bike in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A traffic enforcement stop in Port St. Lucie led to the arrest of a 13-year-old accused of fleeing on an electric dirt bike.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department said its Traffic Unit was conducting enforcement Wednesday near SW Cashmere Boulevard and SW St. Lucie West Boulevard when officers stopped a male riding an e-dirt bike.

Police say the rider took off through an Aldi parking lot during the stop. A sergeant later located the suspect hiding near a Home Depot.

The suspect was identified as a 13-year-old and taken into custody.

He is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, operating an unregistered vehicle, and riding a motorcycle without the proper endorsement, according to police.

“PSLPD remains committed to keeping our roads safe and reminds everyone to always follow traffic laws and regulations,” PSLPD wrote in a post to Facebook.
