TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An investigation is underway after a shooting in downtown Tampa on Monday morning.
The Tampa Police Department said it is investigating a shooting at the intersection of East Kennedy Boulevard and North Meridian Avenue that left a man in his mid-50s with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police said the shooter, also a man in his mid-50s, was quickly detained and a gun was taken into evidence.
The police department believes the shooting was not a random act of violence and the men knew each other.

According to early evidence, the incident may have stemmed from an altercation between the two men that took place on Friday.
Westbound traffic along Kennedy Boulevard is being diverted due to the investigation.
Drivers should seek alternate routes.
