TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Capital Circle Southwest widening project is wrapping up a year ahead of schedule, according to the Florida Department of Transportation Secretary.
Construction has been going on along Capital Circle between Orange Avenue and Crawfordville Highway and is expected to wrap up next month.
The $63.5 million project expanded the road to six lanes for around four miles.
Phase Two of the project, which would widen 2.2 miles of the road to six lanes, was previously unfunded for construction.
Now, the project has been advanced, and construction is getting underway as a result of the Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative.

Phase Two is expected to be complete in mid-2030, according to a press release.
“This remarkable progress allows residents, businesses, and commuters to benefit from improved connectivity and enhanced safety, while reducing the duration of construction impacts along this critical corridor,” the press release said.
