TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A new state collaboration may crackdown on Medicaid fraud.
Today, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a new task force that will target perpetrators of Medicaid fraud.
He said that this will speed up the process of finding criminals who take advantage of state-related services.
Florida Politics:
In the last year, the AG’s office has recovered over 800 million in Medicaid fraud. Uthmeier stated that their main goal is to return money to taxpayers.
“We have a large population; we have a large Medicaid population and a lot of money coming into this state. We want to make sure that it’s landing in the right places and it’s being received by the people who need it and are actually entitled to it,” he said.
Most recently, the task force arrested an Orlando man who claimed to seek reimbursement for providing transportation services for disabled children.
They are also looking to regain another 50 million in an opioid case with Albertsons Companies.
