  • April 16, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Apalachee Parkway on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP troopers say the crash unfolded at about 6:45 p.m.. A sedan driven by a 22-year-old Monticello woman was heading westbound on Apalachee Parkway, approaching Williams Road, as a pedestrian was walking across Apalachee from south to north.

“[The pedestrian] exited the center grassy median and walked directly in the path of [the car] in lane [number] one of US-27,” FHP reports.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency crews, officials say.

The pedestrian’s identity remains unknown, and law enforcement is still trying to contact their family, according to FHP.

The incident blocked the westbound lanes of US-27, and traffic was rerouted for about three hours, according to FHP.
