Nolan Peters hit a three-run home run, and Ryan Headen pitched a complete-game three-hitter as the Jacksonville baseball team rolled past West Central 9-0 at Future Champions on Wednesday.
Jacksonville scored a run in the second, four in the third and four in the fifth. The Crimsons finished with 11 hits. Jack Rohlk went 3-for-4 to lead Jacksonville. Peters and Joe Reif had two hits apiece. Peters and Bentley Lagergren each hit a double, and Reif stole a pair of bases.
Headen struck out eight batters and walked no one.
Hayden Johns went all six innings on the mound for West Central. He gave up nine runs on 11 hits, with three strikeouts and two walks.
The Crimsons improved to 10-5 with a game at Limestone on Friday. West Central slipped to 5-8. The Cougars were to have hosted Triopia on Thursday.
The Routt baseball team grabbed an early lead but could not hold it, falling to Glenwood in Chatham on Wednesday.
Routt scored a pair of runs in the top of the first. Talon Thompson led off with a double and scored on a single by Bryson Mossman. Mossman advanced to third on a single by Brady Turner and scored when Jacob Brown grounded into a fielder’s choice.
Glenwood scored single runs in the second and third to tie the score before plating five in the fifth to take the lead.
Thompson and Turner each went 3-for-4 to lead Routt at the plate.
Turner took the loss, giving up six runs on five hits in four innings pitched. He struck out five and walked five. Brown pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He had two strikeouts and one walk.
Glenwood improved to 12-2. Routt (9-6) was to have hosted Carrollton on Thursday.
