A man was arrested Thursday after an employee of the Rialto Apartments in Orlando reported he had been in the building, where “it is unlawful for any person to occupy or reside in this building,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies say only authorized personnel with the permission of the building management may enter the building with the sole purpose of moving out.When OCSO arrived to the apartment complex, 31-year-old Israel Jacobowitz was taken into custody.A search of Jacobowitz was conducted, and deputies found four bank cards belonging to residents of the Rialto Apartments, a broken door and stolen tools.A maintenance worker at the apartment complex told OCSO he had left his tools inside the vacant apartment, where the door was now broken, and the tools were missing.The building manager confronted Jacobowitz before deputies arrived, informing him he could not be inside the building. He told deputies that Jacobowitz became combative and said, “I was told by the Rabi next door that this building was abandoned. I have the right to be here.”According to OCSO, Jacobowitz can be seen on camera attempting to open an apartment door and removing more than one Ring camera.He can also be seen on camera taking stolen property, putting it in white plastic bags, and walking around the building. Jacobowitz was transported to Orange County booking and is charged with the following:Burglary of a dwellingAttempted burglary of a dwellingPossession of burglary toolsTrespassing in a structureGrand theft in the third degreeCriminal mischiefPetit theftHe is held on an $8,250 bond.
