TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man arrested nearly a year ago after a multi-operation law enforcement operation surrounding child sex crimes has been sentenced, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
Vertis Robinson, 49, was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release for his “attempted receipt of child pornography” conviction, the attorney’s office wrote in a press release Friday.
Robinson will also have to register as a sexual offender once he serves his prison term.

The 49-year-old was one of 16 individuals arrested in July as part of a joint law enforcement operation aimed at locating “individuals using the internet to locate and sexually exploit minors,” according to the press release.
Court documents revealed that Robinson contacted someone he thought was a minor and discussed meeting this individual to engage in sexual acts in exchange for cash, the attorney’s office said. He also asked the minor to send a sexually explicit picture during the discussions.
