On the scale of esoteric music pleasures, math rock can get up there. But as narrow as it seems, the upcoming Math Rock Spring Break bill bucks logic by showcasing the niche genre with a spectrum seldom seen.

Between Puerto Rico’s Space Corolla, North Carolina’s Somnium, and the Floridian contingent of Elders, Sunstrife and Ravenous Tanuki, math rock will be refracted through a kaleidoscope that includes punk, emo, prog, funk, groove and jazz. And in it all, nary a straightforward pop hook all night long. C’mon, let’s get complicated, y’all!

Math Rock Spring Break: 7 p.m. Sunday, April 19, Will’s Pub, willspub.org, $15.
