MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – A 57-year-old Bradenton man was killed early Sunday in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. 19 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred around midnight in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 19, just west of Hightower Road.
Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling in the left lane when he lost control, veered onto the shoulder, and overturned. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway.
Moments later, an SUV driven by a 39-year-old St. Petersburg man, also traveling eastbound, struck the motorcyclist as he lay in the lane.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
