TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Sheriff’s Office held a first responders fun day on Saturday to build trust between first responders and those on the autism spectrum.
The second annual event was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Florida Fairgrounds. The Tallahassee Police Department, EMS, FAMU Department of Campus Safety and Security, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol and Tallahassee Fire Department were in attendance, per LCSO.
Florida State University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (FSU CARD) was also there to provide resources and guidance, according to a press release.
Families talked directly with first responders in a supportive environment. There were also emergency vehicles and snow cones.
