Manny Rionda, longtime resident and founder of the Fill-A-Bag organization, has long said there is a lot of garbage around the Village. This past week, Mayor Joe Rasco and First Lady Ana Rasco, along with members of the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne and many residents, saw firsthand what Rionda sees.
The Villagewide cleanup, organized by the Village of Key Biscayne in partnership with Fill-A-Bag and the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, collected dozens of bags of trash, along with a few relics. Among them: an “exclusive parking” sign from Stefano’s, the former watering hole in what is now the Entry Lot, which closed in December 2015.
The cleanup is part of an ongoing effort to protect the island’s natural environment while bringing neighbors together for a shared cause.
