The Orlando Storm rained on the Birmingham Stallions’ home opener, making history with the first regular-season shutout in UFL history with a 16-0 score and perching them at the top of the standings. “I’m really proud of my football team,” says Storm head coach Anthony Becht. Orlando stayed perfect and did it in style. Quarterback Jack Plummer led with a detailed drive in the first quarter, going 4-4 on third downs. But it was a 36-yard pass to Elijah Badger on third-and-eight that got the momentum started for Orlando, setting up Plummer for a lob to Cam Camper on third and goal, who made his first catch of the season and scored for Orlando. The Stallions, however, began to struggle. After three punts and a missed 35-yard field goal, the team only gathered 107 yards while they unsuccessfully weathered the Storm’s impressive first half. The second quarter was brought to a close by Plummer, once again making quick work of the Stallion defense and leading an incredibly efficient two-minute drill despite having no timeouts. Hitting Camper, Chris Rowland, and Jashaun Corbin to set up a 47-yard field goal by Michael Lantz.Plummer remained composed throughout the game, throwing for 182 yards and a touchdown without turning the ball over. It was not just the Storm offense that had all of the fun. When the dust settled, Orlando had only let up 147 yards, a season best for the Storm defense. Orlando held the Stallions to a brutal 1 for 13 on third down.”They (Stallions) do have a lot of talented receivers, you know, but we got a lot of talented defensive linemen,” Coach Becht says. The Storm are now only the 2nd team in UFL history to start a season 4-0.
