PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – In honor of the anniversary of the mass shooting, Florida State University in Panama City had a remembrance ceremony today at Holley Bay.

They placed flowers around the FSU sign, had a prayer group, and read a poem to remember those who were impacted by the tragedy.

Students say that while the shooting happened in Tallahassee, the ripple effects reached the Panhandle community.

“Coming back at it, I feel like it again empowers a lot of us that we’re still here. We’re still Seminoles, we’re still FSU students. It doesn’t matter where we are, what we’re doing, we’re going to come together and have each other’s backs,” Student Government Council Member and Organizer Bryanna Morgan said.

The shooter is facing nine charges, including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
