Investigators with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said a 34-year-old man and his 36-year-old girlfriend were found dead inside an apartment.
FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. — A man and woman are dead after a shooting Saturday inside a Fleming Island apartment that Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
Investigators said deputies were contacted Saturday by a family member of the 34-year-old man, saying they were concerned by a message they got from him.
Deputies responded to his apartment on County Road 220 in Fleming Island for a welfare check. Upon entering the home after trying to contact him, they found two people dead inside.
Investigators identified the man and his 36-year-old girlfriend as the two inside and said both were pronounced dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Initial signs point to the shooting being a domestic murder-suicide, investigators said, but the investigation is still ongoing.
