Cox Media Group has promoted industry veteran Shawn Knight to Assistant Director of Branding and Programming for urban AC “Hot 106.5” WHJX Jacksonville, FL.
In his new role, Knight will help oversee day-to-day programming as well as marketing, promotions, events and sales campaigns. He will continue his on-air duties, hosting afternoon drive on “Hot 106.5” and middays on “Power 106.1,” which airs on the Jacksonville-licensed FM translator W291CI at 106.1, with programming originating on WJGL-HD2.
Knight brings more than 30 years of experience in radio. His previous roles include Assistant Program Director at “Kiss 107.3” KISX in Tyler, TX, and Programming Assistant positions at “K92.7” WKZJ in Columbus, GA, and “Soul 106.3” WSRB in Chicago. He began his career in Chicago at Kennedy King College’s WKKC and WGCI-AM, and later became a morning show host in Topeka, KS, where he was named “Best Morning Show” by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.
Knight will report to Elroy Smith, Director of Branding and Programming for “Hot 106.5” and “Power 106.1” and Director of Urban Content for Cox Media Group.
