Fires burn over an acre of wildland in western Broward

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue helicopter responded to a set of brush fires on Tuesday afternoon in western Broward County.

According to BSFR Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane, the air rescue unit was involved in water drops over remote hot spots west of Weston.

BSFR requested assistance from the Florida Forest Service, as flames burned under power lines west of Highway 27 and mile marker 45, according to Kane.

The brush fires have burned more than an acre of wildland.
